Calling something a gemstone can be trying, especially when we don't know what the stone is. We believe this may be a form of jasper. The period is 1880s and this set has a patent mark on the back.
This is a style you may not be used to. They have the wing-back mechanisms and will hold the flaps of your cuffs much tighter than normal. This set was made in the 1880s and will come to you in a two tone gold tone finish.
This set is gold filled and has a square rock. Wear on these would be indicative to their approximately 140 year old age. They would attach to cuffs the same as normal modern cufflink do. Sets like these tend to be perfect for costume designers as well.
