Antique Bacchante and Thyrsus Cameo Brooch
She is gorgeous. Possibly carved late 19th century but the setting is turn of the 20th century. It has a handmade safety catch and is unmarked. The bezel tests for silver and has a gold gilt wash that comes and goes.
The Cameo itself is carved shell and layered nicely. She has the grape leaves and thyrsus indicative to the Bacchante, a follower of Bacchus. She does have surface fractures that do not hinder the shell or brooch. She's at least 120 years old and has at least 120 more years of life left.
Thank you -
