Victorian Bachelor Button - Agate Gemstone
The center on this is agate button is in great condition for being 145 years old. These were marketed as universal buttons to be used as collar studs, shirt studs, or vest buttons. You also may see them advertised as bachelor buttons.
The stud is a two-piece mechanism that comes apart by the tabs on the side. Some of these came with patent dates of 1879 and 1880s, you may or may not see it on this one. For being 145 years old, this button is in great usable or collectible condition.
