These hand carved mother of pearl solid link dollar sign cufflinks are from the last half of the 19th century. Dollar sign? Did they get that right? The $$$$ ? Can these be the 1st dollar sign cufflinks made? This shape for men's accessories didn't become popular until the mid 20th century. This set was made in the 19th century.
As you can see from the many pictures, the only shape we can come up with on this set is the dollar sign.
These carved style of cuff links were predominantly worn up until the Edwardian period when more options started appearing with the patents of the 1880s. These cufflinks are solid and look more white and better in person. They may need to be cleaned if you wish to do so.
