Victorian Saphiret Studs - Dated 1879 - The Real Deal
The amazing Saphiret, so rare, so beautiful. Hold it one way and it gives you the blue, hold it another and it goes to purple to brown. This glass is late Victorian roughly 1880s and it's very well known that the glass is made with gold. At the time these would be from Bohemia, a part of Austria. The studs are attached to what is known as Bachelor buttons with the release levers on the sides.
If you're a collector of Saphirets then you know these hardly ever come on the market and we've never come across them as studs. These studs could be used for buttonless shirts or detachable collars.
The studs are a two-piece mechanism that comes apart by the tabs on the side. Some of these came with patent dates of 1879 and 1880s, you may or may not see it on this one. For being 145 years old, these button are in great usable or collectible condition.
